Aye it's Pday again

Hey everyone,

Hope u all have had a good week. These past 4 days since Thanksgiving have been pretty tight. Friday we had 5 lessons planned, and 5 cancels...and then we were supposed to have 5 investigators come to church on Sunday and they all said they were coming that morning, and then church came and a solid zero ended up coming. So that's a rip but you can't win em all.

So we've been doing a lot of street contacting since we've been having little success with lessons. On Saturday we were stopping by to give this one lady a Bible she requested and some really ghetto looking guy with a huge goatee and a blunt in his hand answers and is like "what do you want" so we tell him we're here to give the girl her Bible, he says he will give it to her, so we're about to leave and I give him a Christmas pass along card, and he goes "oh u wanna talk about Christmas cuz we can talk for hours about that but you ain't gonna like it" now these are moments I really can't stand cuz I'm a missionary and cant just rail them in the head while they spew all this false doctrine at us, but my companion LOVES these moments, so he's like "yeah we have time tell us" so that proceeded into an hour and a half back and forth thing with this dude on his front porch while it's freezing. He's just going off about how we are going to hell because we believe in Jesus, and he says we shouldn't have Christ's name in our church because...i really don't know because halfway through I just completely zoned him out and started thinking about food. I wanted to knock that dudes teeth out, but however that probably wouldn't be best for anyone😂I wanted to just walk away so bad but my companion kept asking him questions because he loves this kinda stuff😂

Also guys! It's almost December, and our church is doing this thing called #LightTheWord because Jesus is the light of the world, it's basically 25 Days of December, and 25 days to do service. It's super dope, and we've been handing out a lot of those cards and advertising it a lot so go check it out at mormon.org, or lds.org. I know this church is true, and that with Christ we can overcome anything, and by giving service we are giving back a tiny fraction of what Christ did for us. Miss and love y'all!

Thanksgiving and Poly comp #2

Hey everyone,
Hope y'all have been having a good week. It's been pretty good here. I'm emailing you guys today because our pday got moved to today because it's Thanksgiving. Hope you guys are having a good meal, cuz we aren't getting fed tonight. 😂 I got a new companion, his name is Elder Selu, and he's a huge Samoan dude from Utah, it's crazy cuz both my companions have been Polynesian...maybe it's a sign. 😨😨😂 Anyway he's a great guy and we get along really well. It's definitely been hard having Elder Makuakane gone just because he was an awesome trainer and taught we so much, and was also like my best friend.  But like it's cool.

We've actually met some solid people this past weekish. We met this one guy named Hamlet who is sooo solid, and we actually have him a baptism date for the 9th, he couldn't come to church and we haven't seen him since so I hope we can still get to see him come to church and get baptized. Then one day we were street contacting, and I felt impressed to go talk to this one lady, so we went up and asked if we could help her, and she was like "I've been praying for someone to come help me for so long" we prayed with her on the sidewalk, told her about our church, gave her our number and card, and then we went back to work, then we met this guy named Anime (yeah like the Japanese cartoon) and he had a lot of weird ideas about religion about spirituality, but he's super solid, and I have high hopes for him.

I know this church is true, and I know that everyone can feel it if you truly have a desire, love and miss y'all!

Elder Makuakane's last few days, plus the MURF

Hallo everyone,

Hope you all have had a great week. It's been a pretty good one here, it was elder Makuakane's last week, he heads out Wednesday morning back to Hawaii, as well as a bunch of other people in my district, so the only person I'll know is Elder Sandburg and he's awesome so that's nice. We had Elder Makuakane's "funeral" in district meeting last week, and it involved an obituary by me, which was a summary of his life before the mission (which involved some strategic hidden inside jokes) and then we had a roast session afterwards which was awesome, then we had some Oreos and milk and some Hawaiian juice which was awesome...I'm gonna miss that guy, he's been a great trainer and I've learned a ton from him.

Now as for the MURF. The murf is a crazy crossfit exercise I did when on exchanges with Elder Lee who is this crazy jacked dude who loves that kinda stuff, it's where you run two miles, do a total of 100 pull ups, 200 pushups, and 300 squats. Put you split it up to where you run a mile before, 10 pull ups, 20 pushups, and 30 squats, and you do that 10 times, and then run a mile after...i thought I was straight up gonna die on the mile back, I was so dead but it was super fun, and cold.

We had some good proselyting time too. When Elder Makuakane was at the temple with all the dying missionaries I went with two other elders to go proselyting...and also just so you know it's like 30 degrees and we are street contacting for 4 hours. We got to have a good conversation with one person, but everyone else didn't wanna talk which is understandable because it's freezing, but still. Then we had to walk to the temple (about a mile) past the temple to get lunch on the side of the road (another mile) back (another mile) then get Elder Makuakane and go back home (about 20 miles but we had trolleys for part of it) then back to the temple 30 mins later...yay.

Today was good, it was Elder Makuakane's last Sunday, and the other elders had a baptism after church which was cool. Then a family in Bayview Maryland in Elder Makuakane's old area took us up there for dinner where I got to see Elder Nuzman my MTC companion which was super awesome. They are an awesome family and made us AMAZING cheesecake.

Just a fun fact, our new apartment is right below these people that smoke more weed than I've ever seen, so our apartment always smells like it...yeet.
Love you guys!

Mission Lyfe

Hey everyone!

Hope you guys are doing well! We've had a pretty good week. Elder Makaukane heads back to Hawaii in 10 days so I've been having to work a lot harder to know where everything is, and how everything works really fast since I'll be taking over the area when he's gone...so yeah that's stressful but it'll be fine.

We had some solid lessons this week which is always awesome. One thing that happened a bunch this week is getting referalls, setting up appointments, having to get a man to come with us if it's a girl (missionaries aren't allowed to teach women unless there is a man in the house) and then show up and they aren't there...so that's always fun but I guess you can't win em all.

Yesterday we were able to go get pizza with the Bills (senior missionary couple who are awesome) and that was super fun to be able to get out for a bit. We also got to go into a different part of Philly where there are actually white people, and there weren't gangs all around, it was super weird. Then we went back to our place that night and realized how ghetto our area is.

Fun fact I realized when you have a companion who is going home soon it's actually pretty nice cuz then all of a sudden everyone wants to feed you, and that's so sweet cuz we like never get fed out here, but we've been getting fed a ton recently, and by a ton I mean like 3 times but that's way more than we usually get fed, but we got more dinner appointments this week!

I got to confirm Isatu today! Usually they have the Elder that didn't do the baptism do the confirmation, but since Elder Makaukane is going home he let me do it, so that was awesome, I love Isatu she's such a solid girl in the gospel. I also met a crazy lady today on the trolley, she was just going on about how she was homeless, and she was gonna hunt me down and fight me (she's like 75 years old and 5'2) I was just laughing and trying to be missionary like, but that was a fun experience.

We had a solid Halloween, we were gonna have some guys over and eat Oreos and milk but they had to stay home for some reason, so Elder Makaukane and I just read scriptures, ate Oreos, watched conference talks, and slept from 6:00 (when we had to be in) until we went to sleep for the night. I miss and love you guys and I know that the church is true, it's blessed me more than I can say and I know it always will and I know it can bless everyone as well. Love y'all!✌
